Changes to Games pages

Posted Wednesday, September 03, 2008 5:23 PM by kent-teachers

The Maths and Literacy games pages have changed over the summer. www.kented.org.uk/ngfl/games

There were two purposes for this..... firstly to provide more help information for each game. As some of the games are indecipherable! Secondly I wanted all of the game icons to be visible on the same screen simultaneously. This removes the need for little ones scrolling down a long page. The old pages are still available and a link to them can be seen at the bottom of the games page.

I'm hoping that these changes will make the resources far more friendly to use. I'd be very grateful if anyone has any comments or recommendations as to how these pages could be improved! Incidentally, I'm thinking of changing the 'Make and Do' section into more of an interactive classroom with drawers and shelves.

New games:

  1. Silly Bull (Years 2 & 3) Phases 5 & 6 of Letters and Sounds. The purpose of this game is to provide a routine for spelling longer words. www.kented.org.uk/ngfl/games/sillyBull_suffix_v4.html
  2. Person Printer (YR & 1) A modelling activity where you can design your own flexible character. Just add split pins! www.kented.org.uk/ngfl/games/personPrinter.html
  3. Box Maker (Y1 & 2) Design your own box for a product and write the instructions for how to use your item. You can write on every panel. This resource was suggested by Emma Wills from Warden House Primary in Deal, thank you! www.kented.org.uk/ngfl/games/boxMaker_v5.html

Have fun,
James.

I love the new design. The added panel for the descriptions of the games is a wonderful idea. I used Silly Bull with my year 3 class today. They loved it.  Thank you

The new layout is really clear to see and very visual for the children.  Nice to see lots of games for KS1.

Fab new games.

Love the microscope one as a Science starter, easier than dragging the microscope out of the cupboard!

Thanks for your efforts, I look forward to telling our KS1 teachers about it.

More KS2 games please!!

Thank you for these amazing and lovely comments!!

I think you must have been the first person to try the Silly Bull Sally. That's great news. Thank you!

Please do drop me a line if you think any resource needs changing, or if you need something creating.  Any KS2 grammar requests would be helpful. I don't have the experience to call on from that age range.

Thank you again, James:)
