The launch event for the Meet in School project was held today at St. Simon Stock School.

It was a huge success with everyone showing their support for the project.  The partners for the project were there, Aethra, CDEC and Medium, as were our experts from our resource schools, our technical support and our Sponsor.

The group were given a taster of a live videoconference and a session of Interactive whiteboard training.

The group also had a sneak preview of the kit that will be sent out to Schools.

As part of the 'Meet in School' videoconferencing scheme, the Digital Curriculum team have compiled a glossary of useful information and websites who provide advice and resources for people wanting to try videoconferencing.  The glossary has only just been started so there are only a couple of pages but the idea is that if people want to add to the list they can.

Just contact Digital.Curriculum@kent.gov.uk.  Tell us about the website or information source, how good it is and the contact details and we will add the information to the glossary.

Once we have a good list of sites and information sources we will publish it online.

Currently the list is available by contacting Digital Curriculum

Plans are being put in place to offer Schools the opportunity to loan videoconferencing equipment.  Schools will work in partnerships and will have access to the videoconferencing equipment for half a term.  They can use the equipment to share lessons with their partner school, teacher to teacher meetings and to share best practice ideas.

The scheme - due to be set up by the spring term will provide schools on the Kent Community Network with the opportunity to sample the amazing world of videoconferencing!
