From: Patrick Ross, pjross@EDU.PE.CA
Grade 5/6 class in PEI, Canada looking for similar grade to work on a new initiative of a "green school". My class won the 2007 environmental award for this work and would like to share it and work with another class. We use IP and are new to the video conferencing system.
I am also looking for any grade 1-8 class looking to do read-alouds or common interest books for children's own work.
Thanking you in advance,
Patrick Ross

Hi
... and welcome back to a new videoconferencing year!
The Motivate Project has a full programme for the year (with a couple of conferences still to add as details are confirmed), which you can see at
http://motivate.maths.org/conferences/conferencelist.php?prog=all. All conferences from January onwards have places at the moment. Up to Christmas, the only conferences on which we currently have places are The Science and Beauty of Nebulae(14-16 year-olds, science, see http://motivate.maths.org/conferences/conference.php?conf_id=134); and Avalanche! (dates recently changed to later in the term, 13-15 year-olds, maths and science). However, if you are interested in a particular conference, it's worth requesting a place, as we do have cancellations, especially where bookings were made before the previous summer holiday.
To request a place on any conference, go to
http://motivate.maths.org/getinvolved/getinvolved.php, and use our online registration form. If you do not immediately see a webpage showing the details you have just submitted, and almost immediately receive an email confirming that the page has submitted correctly, then it hasn't and you will need to re-send it! Please use this for all booking requests, as we are becoming ever busier, and need to be sure that both Adrian and I have all the information we need.
If you would like to be involved in a long project, we can still accept bookings from schools for the UK/Pakistan Link (see
http://motivate.maths.org/getinvolved/LongProjects2007-08.shtml#SAUK) and for Reading Between the Lines: Communicating with Codes (see http://motivate.maths.org/getinvolved/LongProjects2007-08.shtml#Codes).
More information on both is available if you email me.
If you are thinking of asking us to do a maths day or session for you, you might like to know that we now have our VC calendar linked from
http://motivate.maths.org/about/about.php - so you can see which dates we are already committed for.
If you haven't yet VC'd with us, you will also need to check on technical issues with Adrian (cc'd into this message, or on 01223 764106 or 0774 703 5984).
We wish you all a good year to come, and look forward to VC'ing with you before too long!
Best wishes
Jenny
