Greetings my UK & Canadian friends,

I'm looking for some 7th grade / age 13 or so classes to do the

following project with us:

Eco-Conversations

Students connect internationally to discuss current environmental issues

and their impact locally. Students present their research and the local

perspectives and then discuss the issues with the partner class.

Preparation Materials: http://www.remc11.k12.mi.us/dl/EcoConversations/

We are focusing specifically on Carbon Emissions for this project.

We are hoping to do this in December and we need one class for each time

listed. I've bolded how I think the pairings will probably work best.

Dec. 12 7:30-8:15 EST    12:30-1:15 UK    5:30-6:15 AB

Dec. 13 8:30-9:15 EST     1:30-2:15 UK     6:30-7:15 AB

Dec. 12 9:30-10:15 EST   2:30-3:15 UK    7:30-8:15 AB

Dec. 13 11:15-12:00 EST  4:15-5:00 UK     9:15-10:00 AB

Dec. 12 1:15-2:00 EST       6:15-7:00 UK     11:15-12:00 AB

If you can do it, please sign up here - you'll see a Register link

towards the bottom of the page. That way I can get all your details all

at once.

Hi

We are getting a lot of bookings for our conferences so I thought it might be helpful to summarise where we still have places before Easter. For

post-16 students:

The Mathematics of the Quantum World,

(http://motivate.maths.org/conferences/conference.php?conf_id=145) 16-18 year-olds, 5 Feb, day conference, 10.00-15.00 (UK time), for students studying maths (with or without physics) to find out a bit more about what mathematicians understand in this area and what they still want to find out about.

Nrich Problem-Solving Day

(http://motivate.maths.org/conferences/conference.php?conf_id=152), 29 Feb, 10.00-15.00 (UK time), for Year 12 students (16-17 year-olds, or anyone in the early stages of advanced maths study), using resources from the renowned Nrich website (http://nrich.maths.org) to explore a variety of mathematical topics.

The cost of a conference (from January) is £80 for up to 15 post-16 students, £130 for 15 or more post-16 students.
